Easter is a fun and exciting time with all your little ones excited about the prospects of collecting Easter eggs following a visit from the Easter Bunny. Here is a range of activities that can be done with one child or the whole family at once and some of the items made could be used as a gift to give a loved one for Easter. There is a mix of gross motor, craft and cooking activities to keep your family entertained in the lead up to Easter.
Adult supervision may be required for some children in some of the activities below.
Easter egg hunt using different with gross motor movement to collect the eggs:
Examples of gross motor movements you can use:
E.g. Hop, skip, jump, crawl, tiptoe walk, heel walk, heel to toe walking, side stepping, walk backward, march, skip, knee walk
Easter egg (pom pom) hunt with tongs:
You will need:

A pair of tongs

20 or more pom poms
How to play:
1. Hide the pom poms in different locations around the house, backyard or park.
2. Encourage your children to collect all the pom poms and return them to their ‘base’ using a different gross motor movement for each pom pom they collect.
Pom Pom Painted Easter Bunny Craft
You will need:

Easter Bunny Printable
-
Pom poms
-
Clothes pegs
-
Paint
-
Paint pallets
-
White Card paper
-
White Pom Pom
-
Glue
How to do:
-
Pour out some Easter coloured paint onto your paint pallet or paper plate.

Attached the Pom Poms to the clothes pegs.

Cut out the Easter Bunny Printable. Tape the outline onto a sheet of card paper.

Start to paint all around the bunny with different colours. Have fun painting and mixing the colours.

Once the paint is dry, remove the easter bunny to reveal the silhouette below.

Glue down a white Pom Pom for your bunny’s tail.
Q-tip painted Easter eggs
You will need:
-
sturdy paper (like paper plates)
-
paint (any colour you like - including white),
-
a container or tray (like an ice cube tray) to mix the paint using the q tips.
How to do:

Start cutting out your eggs from paper plates.
-
Pour some paint in your tray. Talk about the colours. Add white to each colour and have your child mix the paint.

After all the tints have been mixed, pour a little more of the original colour in an adjacent container or slot in the tray.

Time to paint!

Let dry and then if you want, use as little Easter cards for loved ones.
Toilet roll bunnies
You will need:
-
Toilet rolls
-
Paint
-
White cardboard
-
Googly eyes
-
Pipe cleaners
-
Markers
How to do:
1: Paint toilet rolls white using the paint and leave to dry.
2: Trace two bunny ears on white cardboard and then make smaller ear sections with coloured paper of your choice.
3: Glue two googly eyes onto the toilet paper roll.
4: Twist three pipe cleaners in the middle and glue them directly under the googly eyes.
5: Glue a small pom pom on top of the pipe cleaners for a nose.
6: Glue bunny ears to the inside of the top of the toilet paper roll, directly above the bunny face.
7: Use a permanent marker to draw on a mouth underneath the pipe cleaners.
Salt Dough Easter Egg Ornaments
You will need:

4 cups of flour
-
1 cup of salt
-
1 1/2 cups of warm water
-
A mixing bowl
-
Cookie cutter
-
Paints
-
Glitter
-
Thread or string (to thread through the hole)
How to do:
1: Combine 4 cups for regular flour, 1 cup of salt and 1 ½ cups of warm water and mix well until a dough forms.
2: Take dough out of the bowl and knead for 10 minutes.
3: Roll the dough out so it is approximately 5mm thick and use cookie cutters to cut them into egg shaped pieces.
4: Use a straw to make a hole in the top of the ornament.
5: Let the ornament air dry for a day.
6: Once the ornament is dry, decorate with acrylic paint and glitter.
7: When finished decorating the ornament if you would like you can seal creation with a clear glaze spray.
8: Thread string or ribbon through the hole and tie in a long loop.
Potato Stamp Easter Eggs
You will need:

A few potatoes
-
Acrylic paints of your choosing
-
White paper or cardboard
-
Glitter if you would like
How to do:
1: Cut a potato in half and carve designs into either side of cut potatoes.
2: Use acrylic paint to paint each section of the potato.
3: Stamp the potatoes with the paint onto white paper.
4: Decorate with glitter and cut out.
5: Rinse potato repeat steps 2-4.
Chocolate Easter Crackles
You will need:

3 cups of Coco Pops
-
60 grams of butter
-
160 grams of Mars Bars
-
Small chocolate Easter Eggs
-
A 24 cup mini silicone muffin tray
How to do:

Set aside the 24 cup mini silicone muffin tray for bite-sized crackles.

In a small saucepan over medium heat, add butter and mars bars, stir until melted and smooth.

Place Coco Pops into a large bowl.

Pour chocolate mixture over Coco Pops and stir to combine.
-
Spoon mixture evenly into the silicone muffin tray, pressing down firmly. Shape into nests.

Decorate with an Easter Egg on top.

Place the tray in the fridge for an hour to set.
